Connemara Mining is a high potential play on zinc and was established in Ireland in 2006. Connemara mining is the fourth largest license holder in Ireland which is the best location in the world to find a zinc mine. Through a joint venture (75/25) with Teck Cominco, Connemara has made a world class zinc discovery at it's Stonepark license. 3km from this discovery Minco/Xstrata have outlined a combined zinc/lead ore body of 24m tons at their Pallas Green license. This10sqkm area of Stonepark/Pallas Green is highly mineralised and is very large by world standards. Drill results to date at Stonepark have produced world class grades over significant widths.

Connemara/Teck will drill 50 holes in 2011 and currently have two rigs working on site. This drill program is fully funded following a £1m fund raising in June 2010 and ongoing drilling at Stonepark will see a flow of results as the richness/size of the ore body becomes apparent. With only 20m shares in issue and 40% held by the board this drill program offers a lot of upside in 2011.

On 15th December 2010 the Company announced an update on drilling at Stone Park. Click here to view

So given the burgeoning levels demand from China and its equally vociferous neighbours, what are the fundamentals for Zinc? Often overlooked by investors, yet its rust resistant properties make it an essential element in the manufacturing of many modern day appliances.
