About MiningMaven

News & Research, Observation, Comment & Speculation - always from a value investors perspective!

There is no doubt that the resource sector is where the action is right now, though much of the coverage out there can be too technical for the average person to understand. Our objective is to empower the private investor and encourage more people to take an interest in the sector, so we will ensure that our content is straight talking, accessible to all and as jargon free as possible.

We are building a network of investors who are, like us, on the look out for value propositions and prefer a no nonsense approach to investing in the natural resource sector.

All are welcome - mavens & novices! - be part of the MiningMaven network and watch our numbers grow!!

You can join Mining Maven and subscribe for updates (we never give out your email addresses to third parties) or join us on Twitter and our Facebook group where you can put forward and discuss value propostion of your own.

Please feel free to email us with your comments or suggestions. Likewise we are always keen to hear from companies operating in the resource sector with a value proposition for investors: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

How do we work?

MiningMaven operates on a sponsorship model with a combination of professional and corporate sponsors.

Whenever we write about a company we do so on behalf of our readers and unless otherwise stated, all opinions given are those of MiningMaven.

This means that we are responsible for the work we publish and it is not paid for or commissioned to order. We don't give recommendations or investment/trading advice.

We will not cover a company on MiningMaven just because they agree to pay us a sponsorship fee. There are simply too many companies out there for us to do justice to them all and we cant be everything to everyone.

MiningMaven is run by Private Investors and as Private Investors we find what we consider to be the best opportunities where we would be happy to invest in personally. If we won't or can’t back companies we cover with our own money, how on earth can we be trusted to mean what we say?

So when we meet a Company we ask them detailed questions about their:

    • Board and management effectiveness and correlation with investor interests;
    • Vision, Strategy and how this translates to action on the ground;
    • Finance and funding;
    • Geography and geology;
    • Commodity exposure;
    • Corporate Governance in the round
    • Social development programmes in the field;
    • Communications commitment and capability;
    • Shareholder awareness.

To be honest not all the new companies we meet appreciate our approach. And if they don’t, we can't work with them. It’s a simple principle, hard at times, especially when companies love to pay money for passive compliant coverage.

We need to be satisfied that all our sponsors clearly understand that our interests as Private Investors are aligned with those of the Private Investors who follow MiningMaven and this ethos runs through all the work we undertake.
